Connecting Google Calendar
Connect your Google Calendar so your appointments appear on it and your busy times count when someone books you.
Connecting Google Calendar does two things:
- Your appointments appear on your calendar. Every appointment where you're the setter or the closer is added to your Google Calendar, and kept up to date.
- Your busy times count. When someone books you as a closer, your Google Calendar busy times show as Busy on their screen, so they don't book over them. On your own Schedule tab and when you book, your events show as Busy too.
Anyone can connect a calendar, setter or closer. Each person connects their own.
Connect
- Open the Profile tab.
- In Integrations, tap Google Calendar. It says Not connected.
- Sign in to Google, choose the account and allow access.
- You're brought back to SolarKnock and see Calendar Connected. The tile now shows ✓ and your Google email.
Events go on the main calendar of the Google account you choose.
When you connect, your upcoming appointments, from today on, are added to your calendar. Past appointments aren't added.
What gets added, and when
| In SolarKnock | On your Google Calendar |
|---|---|
| An appointment is booked with you as setter or closer | An event is added |
| Its date, time, type or note changes | The event is updated |
| The setter or closer changes | The event moves to the new person's calendar |
| The appointment is archived | The event is removed |
The event is named for the type and homeowner, such as "Closing: " followed by their name. It holds the address and the appointment note, and the homeowner's phone when SolarKnock has it. Events are one hour long, whatever length you picked. If you're both the setter and the closer, you get one event, not two.
Deleting a lead takes its appointments off SolarKnock but leaves their events on Google Calendar. To clear those too, archive the appointments before you delete the lead.
What SolarKnock can see
SolarKnock reads only when you're busy: the start and end of your events. It never reads event titles, descriptions or guests, and nobody else in your organization can see them. It also reads your Google email address and your calendar's time zone. It only adds, changes or removes the events for your SolarKnock appointments.
Managers and admins can see on the member screen whether your calendar is connected, and with which email.
Reconnect needed
If the tile says Reconnect needed with your email under it, Google has stopped accepting SolarKnock's access, for example because it was removed in your Google account settings. Until you reconnect, nothing is added to your calendar and your busy times aren't checked.
- To fix it, tap Google Calendar and go through Google's sign-in again. Upcoming appointments that aren't on your calendar yet are added.
- If you don't want to reconnect, tap Remove, then Disconnect. The tile goes back to Not connected.
Disconnect
- On the Profile tab, tap Google Calendar (it shows your email).
- Tap Disconnect.
SolarKnock stops checking your calendar for conflicts, stops adding appointments to it and gives up its access to your Google account. Events it already added stay on your calendar; delete them in Google Calendar if you don't want them.
Tip: If you see Calendar Error when connecting, tap Google Calendar and try again.
