Closers and setters
What setter and closer mean, how to assign or clear them on a lead or appointment, and how admins review every change.
Every lead and appointment has a setter: the person who set it up at the door and gets the credit for it. By default that's whoever created the lead. A closer is the person who runs the appointment and closes the deal. A lead or appointment can have no closer, but it always has a setter.
Where you assign them
Open the lead to get to Edit Lead.
- At the top, Setter and Closer belong to the lead.
- On the Appointments tab, each appointment has its own Closer. An appointment you add with Add Appointment starts with the lead's closer.
The Setter list shows everyone in your organization. The Closer list shows only closers who are taking appointments. If your organization has just one, a new lead gets them as its closer automatically.
Change or clear an assignment
- Pick a different person in Setter or Closer.
- To take the closer off, pick No closer.
- Tap Save.
Changing the lead's Setter also changes the setter on that lead's appointments. There's no "no setter": pick the right person instead.
If Google Calendar is connected, the appointment's event moves with it: it comes off the old person's calendar and goes onto the new person's. See Google Calendar.
Who can do this: anyone who can edit the lead or appointment: its setter and closer, managers and admins. For leads, closers on the lead's team can too. Every change is recorded.
Review the history
Admins see a Show history link next to Setter and Closer at the top of Edit Lead, and next to Closer on each saved appointment. Tap it to open Setter history or Closer history. Each change shows who held the role before → after, then who made the change and when. Changes the app made on its own say by system.
The links at the top also list changes to the lead's appointments, each labelled with the appointment's date and time. The link on an appointment shows only that appointment. A lead that was never reassigned shows its original setter and closer, or No changes recorded.
Who can do this: admins.
Make someone a closer
A manager or admin opens the member screen (the people icon on the Team tab) and taps the Closer pill on the person's row. The pill turns green and the row shows Closer · Taking, so they appear in the Closer list straight away. Tap it again to take the role away. Managers can do this for Sales Reps only, and nobody can change their own. People who join with your organization's Closer invite code start as closers. See Manage team members.
A closer shown as Closer · Not Taking doesn't appear in the Closer list until they're taking appointments again.
